Harsh words
Mum, dad and dad (...and extended family)
Maybe saying some harsh words to someone is a good thing. Not the harsh words that simply offend. But the ones that come out of your hurt which, of course, will hurt that someone. Like shouting at your mum when she tells you about what food is good for your child, especially when she's adding that, 'you don't even know what you're doing.' So you end up shouting back at her, 'you weren't even there to raise me up.' I guess that would hurt her, but I don't see any other way of establishing a connection, or exposing the lack of connection. I have tried being patient and understanding for more than thirty years. I have tried being tolerant and sympathetic. I have tried being the responsible adult when I wasn't even meant to be one. She probably would've wanted to scream back some harsh words at her mum or dad as well. Maybe she did or never could, but then again, whether she did or didn't, right now, I can't care. I have my own harsh words to be responsible for; off you go, spread your light.

“I can’t care” has such a razor’s edge to it.
